We’re a bit partial to the partial openings in the Portes du Soleil 2017 ;)

Stunning views on the way down from Avoriaz. December 2017.

The winter season excitement is building and we’re getting a little bit partial to the partial openings in the Portes du Soleil 2017 😉

Last weekend’s partial opening up in Avoriaz was terrific! The snow was in great shape and there was plenty of it! In fact, there was so much fresh stuff to go at that it had opened up areas and lines that we’ve not even noticed in the last couple of seasons. There was a good amount of runs open and plenty of decent local riders and seasonaires filling their boots before holiday season kicks off.

The difference from last year is staggering.

It’s just a week until Avoriaz opens fully on the 15th December but the abundance of snow means that this weekend there are more confident ‘partial’ openings around the Portes du Soleil than you can shake a ski pole at!

Conditions were superb during the first weekend of partial openings in the Portes du Soleil 2017.

Les Gets is throwing it’s hat into the mix tomorrow and a little recce yesterday revealed great coverage and some good looking pistes. It’s snowed all day today and is due to keep going all night so it should be even better by tomorrow.  The last look at the Les Gets Official website showed the following lifts and pistes opening for the weekend between 9.00am until 4.00pm.

FULL OPENING OF THE LES GETS AREA FROM SATURDAY 23RD DECEMBER 2017.

We had a little recce yesterday while the skies were still clear and things were looking pretty good:

Champery – Les Crosets (who led the early opening charge that we checked out a couple of weeks ago), Avoriaz and Châtel are opening again this weekend. In addition to Les Gets, Morzine, St Jean D’Aulps and Torgon are all throwing open the gates. There’s a full list of the lift openings in each area on the Portes du Soleil website. It looks like links between Avoriaz and Châtel are opening so there’ll be lots to play with up there.

We’re planning to be up and at ’em bright and early for a slide in Les Gets. Maybe we’ll see you there! Don’t forget your thermals, it looks like it’s going to be chilly!
